Que d’effort des femmes pour subvenir aux besoins de leurs familles, Emilienne ITONGWA fait partie des rares femmes qui ont affronté l’injustice sociale contre les femmes en territoire de Mwenga province du Sud Kivu.
Tenez, l’exploitation artisanale d’or occupe plusieurs femmes dans plusieurs sites d’extraction artisanale d’or à Kamituga. Mais, selon la coutume LEGA, la femme est interdite d’accéder dans un puits d’or.
En dépit des restrictions coutumières à la femme, Emilienne ITONGWA est parmi les rares femmes qui ont la conscience éveillée dans la lutte contre la discrimination et les normes sociales. Etant détentrice de trois puits, elle se bat bec et ongle, et aujourd’hui elle est autorisée d’y accéder.

Notre journaliste reporter Alain WANDIMOYI du Collectif des Journalistes Documentaristes (COJODO) – Cruche Hebdo a accompagné Emilienne sur son lieu de travail ; Afin de comprendre comment elle a bravée cette barrière et le mythe qui entourent l’exploitation artisanale de l’or qui limite l’accès dans les carrés miniers aux femmes.
Il convient de noter que cette dame de la cinquantaine, est la PDG des puits d’or sur le site minier D3 jadis périmètre de la SOMINKI cédé à BANRO.
Son vœux est de voir d’autres potentiel partenaires venir tourner leurs regards vers la coopérative minière des femmes de Mwenga, qui se recherche encore.
