L’Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN) informe le public que ses
installations à La Rwindi ont été la cible d’une attaque des may may durant la nuit du 03 février
2022. Mis en alerte, les gardes de l’ICCN ont amplifié leurs patrouilles dans la zone. Ce mardi 8
février, ils ont rencontré une position solidement établie par les inciviques à environ 7 km de la
Rwindi. Un échange de feu s’en est suivi. Un incivique est décédé et les autres ont pris la fuite.
Une arme de type AK47 a été récupérée par l’ICCN.
Faisant suite à cet incident, l’ICCN réaffirme sa volonté de mettre en application la loi n°14/03 du
11 février 2014 sur la conservation de la nature, dans le respect des droits humains et de l’Etat
de droit, sur tout le territoire qui relève de sa juridiction. Elle réitère aussi sa volonté d’appuyer la
traque des groupes may may menée par les autorités militaires dans le cadre de l’Etat de Siège.
Dans ce contexte, l’ICCN appelle les populations riveraines du parc à faire preuve de prudence
et à se tenir à l’écart des zones qui demeurent sous l’influence des groupes armés.
