A sa descente d’avion il a été accueilli à l’aéroport international de Goma par le vice-gouverneur du Nord-Kivu, le commissaire divisionnaire Romy EKUKA LIPOPO accompagné de la représentante spéciale du secrétaire général des nations unies en RDC Bintou Keita.
Le président Uruguayen Luis ALBERTO LACELLE Pou, après avoir reçu les honneurs militaires des casques bleus de la MONUSCO a eu un bref entretien avec le vice-gouverneur de province au salon d’honneur de l’aéroport International de Goma.
Il s’est ensuite rendu à la base du contingent Uruguayen de la MONUSCO où le président uruguayen a suivi une parade et un défilé militaire.
Dans son mot adressé à ses troupes, le chef de l’état uruguayen s’est dit content d’arriver en République Démocratique du Congo pour passer la fête de Noël aux côtés des casques bleus Uruguayen déployés dans la Province du Nord et Sud-Kivu.
Il a saisi cette occasion pour remercier les autorités de MONUSCO ainsi que de la République Démocratique du Congo pour le travail abattu avec le concours des forces uruguayennes.
Notez que le contingent uruguayen de la MONUSCO est déployé en République Démocratique du Congo depuis l’arrivée de la mission de l’ONU en République Démocratique du Congo en 2001. Actuellement, ce contingent compte 779 hommes de troupes, mais également de l’aviation.
