Hererimana Serushago, journaliste à la radio communautaire “La Voix de Mikeno” de Bunagana en territoire de Rutshuru, dans la province du Nord-Kivu, vit dans la hantise de se retrouver à nouveau dans les mains du M 23 qui, le 5 juillet 2022, l´on appréhendé sans motif alors qu’il réalisait des interviews dans un camp des déplacés.
Le journaliste a été ligoté et sauvagement torturé par un groupe de jeunes partisans et des militaires du mouvement rebelle pendant toute la journée avant d’être abandonné dans la rue sur demande d´un membre du groupe, avec interdiction de dénoncer leur forfait, sous peine d’être assassiné.
Henry Serushago vit en clandestinité depuis une semaine et se fait soigner avec ses propres moyens. Les jeunes, proches du M 23 qui l’avaient torturé, le connaissent bien, puisque vivant dans la même cité de Bunagana.
