Dans les nouvelles ordonnances lues, lundi soir, sur les antennes de la RTNC, le président Félix Tshisekedi place notamment confiance au lieutenant-général Marcel Mbangu Mashita (56 ans) qui occupe désormais le poste du commandant de la troisième zone de défense des forces armées de la République Démocratique du Congo, couvrant ainsi une grande partie de l’Est, tourmenté par les forces négatives et des groupes armés locaux. Une zone en opérations militaires, sans arrêt, depuis plus près d’une décennie. Cet article a été publié sur politico.cd
Marcel Mbangu remplace à ce poste du devoir le général Philémon Yav, écroué à la prison centrale de Makala, pour haute trahison. Il s’agit d’un poste à multiples enjeux liés à la défense nationale suite aux multiples opérations actuellement menées par les FARDC dans la région. De la reprise de Bunagana sous occupation du M23 soutenu par le Rwanda, à la lutte acharnée contre les ADF et leurs supplétifs, des groupes armés locaux, le lieutenant-général Mbangu sera face à un front militaire où il ne faut dûment pas laisser sa tête dans la poussière.
Qui est le Général Marcel Mbangu Mashita ?
Né en octobre 1965, dans la région de Kolwezi, le réputé homme de terrain a fait plusieurs hautes études dans les différentes écoles des défenses militaires en Afrique et ailleurs. Il est Diplômé en Commandement et Etat-Major au Staff College (Zimbabwe), formé en Renseignement Stratégique en Égypte, Diplômé de Stratégie et de défense au Collège des hautes études de stratégie et défense (CHESD), mais aussi, Diplômé en Sécurité Internationale à The Management Institute For The International Strategy (THEMIIS) en France,le général Marcel Mbangu est un ancien Commandant Compagnie au sein des unités Tigres venus de l’Angola et ayant participé à la prise de Kinshasa le 17 mai 1997.
En 2000, pendant que les guerres d’occupation éclatent ça et là au pays, il est désigné chef de Service de Sécurité à la Clinique Présidentielle de l’OUA (UA) avant d’être Chef du Département administratif à la direction des Transmissions et puis Directeur du même service à l’État-major général de Forces armées congolaises.
Peu après, en 2007, Mbangu Mashita sera nommé Directeur de renseignement et sécurité militaire de la Force Terrestre avent d’être nommé en 2010 Chef d’antenne de service de renseignement militaire à l’ambassade de la République démocratique du Congo près la République d’Ouganda.
« 4 ans » de lutte contre les ADF
En 2013, Marcel Mbangu est désigné Commandant Adjoint à la 32eme Région Militaire chargé des opérations et renseignement en Ituri/Bunia avant d’être nommé en 2015 Commandant du Secteur opérationnel militaire Sukola 1 Grand-Nord à Beni, un poste qu’il occupera pendant 4 ans.
C’est en 2014 que Sukola 1 est lancée, dans l’optique de défaire complètement les djihadistes ADF, à l’époque, moins virulents s’activant à des kidnapping des civils, avec qui ils ont longuement cohabité dans la région de Beni. Les premiers massacres vont remonter en octobre 2014, sous l’oeil du général Akili Mundos. De grandes offensives sont menées. Plusieurs camps des combattants ADF sont détruits, dans le cadre des opérations Sokola 1.
En Juillet 2015, à l’époque, le général-major Marcel Mbangu prend la tête du commandement de ces opérations. Les quatre années dans cette zone n’auront pas de tout repos pour lui.
Un peu plus tard, en Octobre 2017, son convoi est attaqué dans le triangle de la mort, sur l’axe Mbau-Kamango par de présumés combattants ADF. Après échanges de tirs, un militaire est tué et plusieurs autres blessés. Il en sort sain et sauf.
Les ADF devenus ADF/MTM
Entre 2016 et 2018, les tâches militaires confiées au général Marcel Mbangu se sont compliquées davantage notamment avec la tension électorale, sans compter l’activisme des miliciens locaux Mai-Mai et l’épidémie de la maladie à virus Ebola. Sous sa direction, l’armée a affirmé cependant avoir amélioré sa connaissance des combattants ADF.
Le 27 octobre 2018, le général Mbangu est le premier officier des FARDC à révéler que les ADF opèrent désormais dans la région de Beni sous un nouveau nom appelé, selon le journaliste Martial Papy Mukeba, œuvrant depuis plusieurs années dans la région de Beni, ADF/MTM ou MTM: « Madina al Tawhid wal Muwahedin », qui signifie la ville (Madina) du monothéisme et des monothéistes.
À l’en croire, Marcel Mbangu va également révéler que sous ce nouveau nom, les ADF ont adopté une stratégie pour convaincre l’extrémisme international afin que ce dernier leur vienne en aide . L’objectif étant de créer un État islamique et à partir de Madina dans le territoire de Beni. Cependant, après son remplacement à la tête des opérations Sokola 1 à Beni, le général Mbangu sera désigné pour diriger la commission d’enquêtes ,pour élucider les circonstances de la mort du général major Delphin Kahimbi,chef d’Etat-major chargé des renseignements militaires des FARDC.
En 2020, le réputé homme de terrain, Général Mbangu Mashita quitte la tête haute dans le triangle de la mort. Il est promu Commandant de la 21ème Région militaire au Grand-Kasai/Mbuji-mayi, qu’il va occuper jusqu’au lundi 17 octobre 2022, nommé à des nouvelles fonctions qu’il va désormais assumer au sein de la troisième zone de défense, une région volatile face à des ennemis en constant mouvement et utilisant des méthodes terroristes.
